Biggest garage sale in local history was a huge success near Milton Keynes

Bargain hunters descended upon village after residents decluttered

Newton Longville' s mass garage sale was hailed a huge success on Saturday.

With the absence of car boot sales, villagers got together to organise a mass event, with more than 80 households taking part.

Visitors were able to pay £1 for a 'sale trail' map and explore each stall.

"It went incredibly well. Everyone said how well it had been organised, and they were all hoping for another one to be done as they enjoyed the outdoor socialising aspect so much," said a spokesman.

"It raised spirits of those who had not been out much! All ages enjoyed being able to speak to others in the village, finding out history of items they were purchasing for their new hobbies picked up during lockdown," she said.

The organisers are donating the proceeds of the sale trail maps and the stall pitch fees to local good causes. They are hoping to hold another mass garage sale this year.
