Change in government data presentation means total number of Covid cases in Milton Keynes has gone DOWN today

Public Health England has changed the way in which it records the location of people who have tests for Covid-19.

And this has meant the number of cases in MK has gone down by 36 overnight.

PHE, from today, has taken the addresses people give at the point of testing rather than those given on their official NHS record.

They have backdated change from September 1, saying it gives a more accurate reflection the distribution of cases and testing.there

Over the weekend another 172 people tested positive in MK, giving one of the highest totals ever over a two day period.

This morning the government figure for the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic stood at 2,960. But tonight, due to the change in data collection, it was reduced to 2,924.

This means there is no accurate figure available for the number of new cases confirmed in MK over the past 24 hours.

Nationally there have been 21,365 new cases and 213 deaths over the past 24 hours.

The new case data, as before, includes people being tested both through 'Pillar 1' - which is in hospitals - and Pillar 2 ,which is drive-through test centres and postal swabs.
