And one of them, Captain Ridley’s Shooting Party in Queensway, Bletchley, has been awarded a diamond grading by inspectors – the highest award possible.

The pub is owned by Wetherspoon, as are the other two local award winners, The Moon Under Water in Xscape, and the nearby Bouverie Square Wetherspoon venue. Both of these were awarded an impressive platinum grading.

The Loo of the Year Awards 2025 take place every year and are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of ‘away from home’ toilet provision across the UK.

The scheme’s inspectors made unannounced visits to thousands of toilets at sites across the UK, in order to judge them. They graded them bronze, silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus or diamond on numerous criteria, including criteria, including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management..

Unacceptable toilets are not given a grade at all.

Captain Ridley’s Shooting Party manager, Gemma Hamilton, said: “We are delighted with the grading. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent conditon at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.”

The Loo of the Year Awards 2025 managing director, Becky Wall, said: “The toilets at the three pubs have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are clean and well maintained. They deserve their awards.”
