Thankfully they have all tested negative for the virus.

Patients on the same ward but in different bays have not been swabbed because they were not deemed to be at risk.

A hospital spokesman said: “There are currently no confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus) cases at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

“We can confirm that all five patients who were in contact with the gentleman that sadly died on Thursday 5 March have tested negative for COVID-19."

The spokesman added: “We would like to take this opportunity to urge patients to continue to attend their hospital appointments and use hospital services as they normally would. It is important that members of the public receive the treatment they need, either planned or unplanned, without unnecessary delay.

“The only instance where a person should not attend the hospital is if they are exhibiting the symptoms of Covid-19, have recently returned from one of the affected areas or have been in direct contact with someone with confirmed Covid-19. In these instances, they should isolate themselves and call NHS111 for advice or guidance.”
