Coronavirus deaths in Milton Keynes per postcode area show big differences in impact of virus across the city

Data showing Covid-19 deaths in each postcode area of MK has been published by the Office for National Statistics.

And they show one town - Bletchley - sadly lost more than 51 residents to the virus.

The deaths in all areas took place between March 1 and June 30, but were registered up until July 11.

They total 195 across MK and include deaths in care homes and in the community.

Areas that include one or more care homes are the hardest hit, and for this reason the Linford Wood postcode area tops the death toll table with 25 deaths. Here, coronavirus was responsible for almost 44 per cent of the total deaths registered during that period.

The second highest death toll was Newport Pagnell North, where there were 21 Covid-linked deaths. This was followed by Bletchley North West with 16 and Broughton, Middleton and Kents Hill with 14.

Bow Brickhill and Woburn Sands saw 13 Covid deaths, while Bletchley West suffered 12.

In all these area there are care homes for elderly people.

Olney and Lavendon suffered nine deaths, Hanslope, Castlethorpe and Sherington had four, Newport Pagnell South had two and Great Linford and Giffard Park suffered three.

Stantonbury and Bradville had two deaths, while Wolverton, New Bradwell and Bradwell Common were among the lowest areas with just one each. Stony Stratford and Old Wolverton also saw one death, while Bradwell Village postcode area and Stacey Bushes with Fullers Slade had two apiece.

Willen and Downhead Park suffered eight deaths, while Two Mile Ash had two, but in the Central Milton Keynes and Newlands area just one Covid death was registered.

Woughton and Woolstone had five, while Eaglestone and Fishermead and Shenley Wood and Grange Farm had four apiece.

Loughton suffered three deaths but on Oldbrook and Coffee Hall there were seven. Walnut Tree and Tilbrook had two, as did Furzton and Tattenhoe with Emerson Valley. At Westcroft and Shenley Brook End, five people died of Covid.

In Bletchley 51 people in all died of coronavirus. Some 28 of these were in Bletchley West and North West, where there are care homes.

Another six people died in Far Bletchley, along with four victims in Denbigh , five in Bletchley East and eight in Bletchley South.
