The tents have now been cleared by Milton Keynes Council contractors, and it is thought the former occupants are among the dozens of people who have now been accommodated in MK.

A photo released by the council shows used syringes, paraphernalia and, bizarrely, three abandoned £5 notes on the floor of the tents, which were in a CMK underpass.

A spokesman for MK council said: "We cleared two abandoned tents in CMK last week which contained dangerous waste items. "

He added: We’ve helped more than 130 rough sleepers, and we also take action on abandoned tents and rubbish. Our Environment Team work with our waste service providers Serco as part of the clear up."
