Council urges people in Milton Keynes to shop after 6pm to reduce Covid risks

MK Council has issued a no nonsense warning to shoppers about the risk of catching Covid.

They say at least one in 50 people in Milton Keynes are currently infected with the virus.

Some may be asymptomatic and may not even know they have it. They could still be going out and visiting supermarket and shops as normal - but they are still infectious and could pass it on to other people.

MK Council is now urging people not to "pick up something unwanted" at the shops.

They have published a picture of a shopping receipt with Covid-19 printed in stark letters amid the routine purchases.

A council spokesman said: " Do not pick up something unwanted....One in 50 people have Covid-19. Go supermarket shopping off peak - after 6pm weekdays, wear a mask and stay distant from others."
