Covid cases continued to stabilise over the weekend in Milton Keynes

There were 375 positive tests on Saturday and this dropped to 282 yesterday (Sunday), which was one of the lowest figures for many days.

The number of Covid patients in MK hospital remains high though, with 218 occupying beds over the weekend. Five of these are on ventilation

The total number of city cases since the start of the pandemic is now 13,693 and the death toll (cases where Covid-19 is on the death certificate) is 270.

On Saturday the case rate in Milton Keynes reached an all time high with 1,010.6 cases per 100,000 of the population. By Sunday it had gone down to 935.2, which is still one of the highest figures in the South East region of England.

The government calculates the case rates five days retrospectively. Thus yesterday's figure covers the seven days ending on January 5.

Nationally cases continue to spital. Saturday saw a further 59,937 cases and 1,035 deaths. On Sunday there were 54,940 throughout the UK and 563 deaths, bringing the nation's death toll to 81,431.
