Covid cases remain stable and no new deaths for second day running in Milton Keynes

There have been just 32 new cases confirmed throughout the borough today, compared to 21 yesterday (Wednesday).

And, for the second day running, there have been no new deaths recorded.

Milton Keynes hospital is the quietest it has been for weeks, with 63 Covid patients. None of these is needing ventilation today. At its peak in January, the hospital was caring for 200 patients with the virus.

However the city's case rate, which is calculated over the past seven days, has risen slightly from 72.4 cases per 100,000 people yesterday to 75 cases per 100,000 of the population today.

By comparison, the national rate is currently 60 cases per 100,000 people.

Nationally there have been 6,753 new cases and 181 deaths over the past 24 hours.
