Dozens of new Covid cases and six hospital deaths on the last day of lockdown in Milton Keynes

The deaths of six more Covid patients have been recorded at MK hospital and another 62 people have tested positive over the past 24 hours in MK.

This brings the hospital death toll up to 148 since the start of the pandemic, while the number of positive cases over the same period is now 3,854.

Nationally the number of new confirmed cases rose slightly from 12,330 yesterday (Monday) to 13,430 today. The number of UK deaths rose significantly from 205 yesterday to 603 today.

Currently 78 Covid patients are on the wards and in ICU at Milton Keynes hospital.

Lockdown officially ends at midnight tonight, when MK will enter into tier 2 restrictions.

Shops, gyms and leisure attractions will be open but mixing with other households will be forbidden indoors unless they form part of a support bubble. Outdoors, the rule of six will apply.
