Enjoy music, food and family fun at Milton Keynes event that supports BAME community
Music, food and family fun are on offer at an event in Milton Keynes that aims to support the city’s black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) community.
This year’s Milton Keynes Jeans Carnival is due to be held on Saturday May 23 at the amphitheatre in Campbell Park from midday.
This is a free, one-day event which aims to support aspiring talents in the BAME community, and is organised by the charity M&G Productions.
Themes running through this year’s edition are fostering family togetherness, social education, impactful mental health support for children with special educational needs and disabilities and domestic abuse prevention.

Organisers say the aims of the jeans carnival, which is being staged for the fourth time this year, are to help different cultures and lifestyles within the BAME community meaningfully engage with each other, promote integration and induce economic opportunities, all within colourful celebration.
This year’s carnival will feature live music in the form of dance groups and DJs performing different genres of African music and culture, alongside some more Euro-Centric musical offerings.
Other features of the day will include a wide range of food vendors, as well as retailers displaying and selling goods including clothing, artefacts, arts, catering, jewellery and other items.
With the event taking place at Campbell Park, visitors are being encouraged to park at the centre:mk multi-storey car park.
M&G Productions is a charity which supports, promotes and organises events for unemployed and qualified over-18s across Milton Keynes with creative media skills.
The charity also provides programmes and information for the city’s black community.
