Former Household Cavalry officer now helping Milton Keynes residents navigate challenges of property market

A former Household Cavalry officer is now helping Milton Keynes residents negotiate the challenges of the property market.

Daniel Dixon, who served in the British Army as a non-commissioned officer with the Household Cavalry, is now officially launching Branfold Property Management ahead of the Renters Rights Act introducing changes for landlords and tenants from May 1 2026.

Away from his work, Daniel is married to his husband Stephen, a television news presenter who now currently co-presents GB News’ breakfast show.

Daniel served in the Army for more than seven years including as a mounted solider in the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, and later as a second in command for the Household Cavalry Regiment.

Daniel served during state occasions including royal weddings and the traditional Trooping the Colour parade, however said his personal highlight came during a 2017 Spanish state visit.

"While on duty at the Sovereign’s Entrance in the Palace of Westminster, King Felipe VI rounded a corner so sharply that I accidentally struck him with my state sword," Daniel said.

"The impact tilted my blade 60 degrees, hitting the guard beside me. Bound by protocol, I couldn't move or speak, but I did catch a glimpse of the then-Speaker, John Bercow, sharing a private smile at the mishap.

"It was a stark reminder of the human moments that exist even within the most rigid traditions."

Daniel transitioned to the property sector in 2023 and has launched Branfold Property Management, which provides residential property management services.

"In Milton Keynes, where house prices have hit £329,000 and rents average £1,325, we are working to bridge the affordability gap," he said.

"By lowering overheads and implementing fairer vetting processes for essential workers, we help stabilise a market often defined by high entry costs."

Changes in the Renters Right Act, which become law in May, include providing more security for tenants by abolishing Section 21 evictions and ensuring possession grounds are fair to both landlords and tenants.

Daniel added: "Our role is to act as the vital intermediary to ensure homes are compliant, decent, and stable for the long term.

"Life is really all about balancing the public eye with our private world.

"Stephen thinks meeting viewers out and about is ‘magic’, it usually feels less like a fan meeting and more like catching up with an old friend.

"When he’s not battling those 3am alarms, we’re just two down-to-earth Northerners living a quiet life with Timmy, our rescue cat, and Rex, our Rhodesian Ridgeback."
