Google data shows how movements of Milton Keynes residents have changed massively since coronavirus outbreak

Google data published over the weekend has shown how Milton Keynes has ground to a halt during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The technology firm's anonymised data of people's locations, using apps such as Google Maps though their phones, provides an insight into how little the public are moving around during lockdown.

Visits to non-grocery shops have fallen by 85 per cent since the Coronavirus shutdown - mainly because most of them are closed.

Transit stations, such as bus and train have seen a 79 per cent drop in traffic. The only people that should be using these services are now keyworkers.

Grocery and pharmacy shops are down 49 per cent as citizens are now advised to only make essential trips to the shops.

But residential areas showed a 19 per cent increase in traffic as residents stayed home.

Across the United Kingdom, trips to outdoor spaces such as parks and beaches fell 52 per cent.
