Harrods set to open up in Milton Keynes after lockdown

Harrods are this week advertising for staff for its new H Beauty store at the centre:mk.

The store was due to open up in the former House of Fraser premises last Autumn but was delayed due to the Covid crisis.

It then planned to open this month, but again lockdown has prevented that and the opening was shifted to Spring this year.

The windows are currently festooned with 'opening soon' posters and a recruitment drive has been launched for staff. This has fuelled speculation that the store will open shortly after lockdown finishes.

H Beauty'is a brand new concept from Harrods and will be the company's first venture into standalone beauty retail.

Milton Keynes was selected as one of two locations in the UK for the new concept, which will feature premium and luxury brands such as Chanel, Dior and Huda Beauty.

Customers will also be able to have on the spot treatments such as facials and hair blow-dries.

House of Fraser closed down in January last year and Harrods, whose owners owned the lease under an historic contract, took over the premises.

It is not yet known how many new jobs the store will bring to Milton Keynes.

A Harrods spokesman said: "Milton Keynes being penned for Spring this year, which I am excited to say we are still on track for."

She added: "By launching our new H Beauty’store, Harrods is bringing more magic, innovation and theatre to the beauty market. With H beauty, we will meet a demand from beauty customers for experiential retail that allows them to creatively engage with and learn more about the beauty products they are purchasing, while enjoying a fun and creative retail environment."
