Throughout this October half term (Monday October 26 – Friday October 30) The Parks Trust's outdoor learning team are hosting a variety of nature inspired events at their education centres.

Sarah Griffiths, from TPT, said: ‘We are really pleased to be able to offer some smaller scale family friendly activities during October half term. Over the course of this year we have seen how important green space is to people and through our activities we hope to inspire people to help us protect these vital spaces and the wildlife that call our parks home."

Here's everything TPT has planned for the school holiday:

There will be a pond dipping session at either Linford Lakes Nature Reserve or Howe Park Wood.

A TPT spokesperson said: "In these sessions you’ll learn how to successfully pond dip and discover the amazing creatures that live under water. After this 20-minute activity has finished you will also be able to access the Nature Reserve at Linford Lakes or go for a stroll around Howe Park Wood."

The sessions cost £5 for a family group of up to 5 people. All equipment will be provided.

TPT will also be hosting self-led bug hunting activities at either Howe Park Wood or Linford Lake Nature Reserve.

The spokesperson said: "In these 40-minute sessions families will be given a set of bug hunting equipment including a sweep net, ID sheet and magnifying glass before heading out into the meadow, grassland or wood to start their bug hunting adventure."

These sessions cost £2 for the loan of one set of equipment, families can book up to three sets of equipment per group, and parents must always accompany their children.

On Monday October 26, Great Linford Manor Park will be abound with folktales, histories and stories, including the tale of the wonderous astrological physician, charm caster and potion maker, Richard Napier.

The spokesperson said: "Something strange is going on in Great Linford Manor Park and not for the first time, magic is afoot! Pull up a chair, listen to a story and come and join the fun in a family safe setting."
