Hundreds of homes without power after "high voltage" incident in Milton Keynes

Western Power Distribution bosses have apologised for an incident that has left more than 800 homes without electricity in MK.

The affected homes are in MK4 and MK5 postcodes, around parts of Bletchley, Shenley Church End, Loughton and Furzton.

Electricity went off this morning due to a "high voltage incident", say engineers, who are currently working to repair the problem.

A Western Power spokesman said: "We are sorry about the power cut in Milton Keynes MK5 and surrounding areas. Our team is working on the issue and we aim to restore supplies by 13:00."

He added: "Sometimes power cuts do happen, but when they do, we're ready to restore your electricity as soon as possible."

Last night people in the MK14 postcode area - parts of Newport Pagnell, Staonbury and Great Linford - suffered a power cut. Power was restored shortly before 11.30pm.

Western Power tweeted: "We are pleased to say power is now back on in Milton Keynes MK14 and the surrounding areas. We are sorry for any problems caused by the power cut this evening."
