The Pizza GoGo staff member told Dr Jigar Trivedi: "If I have to wait two hours in A&E then you can wait two hours for your pizza when we're busy."

The MK Citizen published the story yesterday and the shoddy treatment of an NHS hero sparked dozens of outraged comments on social media.

Today the pizza worker made a personal apology.

He said: "I made a comment that I sincerely regret and am sorry about how I made the NHS staff feel."

He added: "I had no Intention to draw any sort of comparisons. I offer a personal apology. I understand that how NHS staff is fighting to keep the people and country safe. I have the utmost respect for them."

Dr Jigar Trivedi had ordered a meal from the Bletchley takeaway to be delivered to him at the hospital on Sunday night, in the middle of his shift.

He said: "It's very hurtful to those on shift who heard about this since they all felt pretty disheartened that the local delivery companies feel the A&E department is a burden whenever we place an order."

The employee who made the rude remark is now to be given further training in communication skills, say Pizza GoGo bosses, who blame the delay in the doctor's pizza on a back log of orders and unusual high demand.

They said: "It was not his intention to offend anyone or to be disrespectful. It is noted that he was put under a lot of pressure by the customer but his explanation was improper and ill judged and due to poor selection of words he failed to convey his message to the customer and angered him further.

"This shows the lack of training while working in challenging circumstances. It also shows that the staff member fell short of the required standards and could not handle the situation in a way it should have been handled. The poor personal intercommunication skills also contributed towards it."

The bosses added: "Pizza GoGo Milton Keynes has catered hundreds of customers over the years and it is unfortunate that this one incident has been advertised as its nature. PGG Milton Keynes management also regrets this and offers an apology to the PGG franchise family and colleagues at other branches that may be affected by this situation."

Meanwhile the employee responsible has revealed how he was nice to another Mk hospital worker minutes after his unfortunate gaffe.

He said: "I also received another all from the second customer at the hospital regarding her order and she told me that she ordered 12 Inch pizzas by mistake instead of 15 inch pizzas.

"I told her that I will make them 15 inches and there will be no extra charges due to being an NHS order and she was very happy to hear this. This shows my approach towards the NHS."
