The spooky season is among us, and residents have gone all out in decorating their homes this year, from evil clowns to blow-up monsters and everything in between.
Halloween comes from an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain, which originated over 2,000 years ago in Ireland, the UK, and northern France.
Samhain was celebrated on November 1st to mark the end of the harvest season and the start of the dark, cold winter.
The Celts believed that on the night of October 31st, the boundary between the living and the spirit world blurred, allowing ghosts to walk the earth.
Christian influence then had an impact in the 8th century. Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as All Saints' Day (or All Hallows') to honor all saints.
October 31st then became known as All Hallows' Eve, which eventually turned into "Halloween".
This Halloween we asked Milton Keynes residents to send us pictures of their most horrifying decorations, and they didn’t disappoint. Scroll down if you dare!
