'It's been a blooming great journey' says garden centre preparing for last day of trading in Milton Keynes
The Woburn Sands Garden Centre is preparing to close its doors for good after serving the community for 50 years.
And its message to all its customers is: “Its been a blooming great journey - farewell and happy growing.”
The Newport Road business announced in Janaury its plans to close down, saying recent government policies had made it “almost impossible for businesses to survive”.
The final day of trading is this Sunday and there is currently 50% off everything with 75% off Christmas and Halloween goods.

Run as an independent garden centre, restaurant and retail emporium, it has suffered from financial losses, reduced customer spending, rising costs and extra tax pressures, say the bosses.
“We have made the very difficult decision to close the business...This is not a decision that has been taken lightly and it’s one we make with real sadness,” they said.
“We invested significant time and financial resources in an attempt to build a successful and sustainable operation. We explored every reasonable option to stabilise the business and sought further financial support where possible. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, continuing to trade is no longer possible.
“We want to sincerely thank our staff, customers, and suppliers for their support over the years. This is not the outcome we wanted, but it is the difficult reality we now face.”
The business was originally owned by Wyevale and sold to the Rochmills Group in 2019. It is almost opposite Frosts Garden Centre on the Newport Road and Frosts will continue to trade as normal.
