This compares to January, the peak of the second Covid wave, when the wards were crammed with 200 Covid patients.

Today five new cases have been confirmed throughout the borough and the seven day infection rate has risen fractionally to 20 cases per 100,000 people. This is below the national average of 24.5.

Nationally, 2,445 people have tested positive over the same period and there have been 22 Covid-linked deaths within 28 days of a positive test.
