Bucks Fire and Rescue Service reported that the detached barn, which contained tools and timber, was severely affected, and had received ‘approximately 80 per cent damage by fire.’

One male was treated at the scene for the affects of smoke exhalation, before being passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

The incident generated multiple calls to Thames Valley Fire Control Service, and a large amount of smoke in the area.

Appliances attended from West Ashland, Broughton, Bedfordshire, Newport Pagnell, Olney, Aylesbury and Winslow, with support provided by neighbouring fire and rescue services including Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire.

Firefighters used specialist equipment from the Operational Support Unit, as well as a turntable ladder, short extension ladders, hydraulic tools, small gear, breathing apparatus and main jets.

The fire service reported that utilities have been isolated, and that vertical ventilation was ongoing to support firefighting operations.

A breathing apparatus servicing area and crew welfare facilities are in place, while an environmental risk assessment has been completed.

Bucks Fire and Rescue Service said in an update posted yesterday evening that crews would remain at the scene for some time to ‘continue firefighting operations and work to bring the incident to a close.’

The incident is still listed as ‘live’ by Bucks Fire and Rescue at the time of writing, with residents asked to keep doors and windows closed.
