With parking fines set to decrease again dramatically from tomorrow (Thursday), the car lease comparision site LeaseFetchersubmitted FOI requests to the UK's biggest councils.

A company spokesman said: "Not having to worry about parking fines has been great news for us motorists. Councils, however, haven’t partaken in the joy. Overall the loss came to a whopping 71 per cent loss. In Milton Keynes alone, income from parking fines dropped by £182,108.

May was the worst hit month overall, with figures picking up slightly in June.

In MK, parking fine money is invested back into improving roads, car parks and subsidised bus services.
