Large plume of smoke generated during fire at second recycling centre in Milton Keynes
A large plume of smoke was generated after a fire broke out at a second council-run recycling centre in Milton Keynes.
Four fire engines and a water carrier were in attendance at the height of the blaze, which broke out at the Newport Pagnell recycling centre on North Crawley Road at just after 5pm on Friday July 10.

The incident happened just a few hours after a fire at Bleak Hall recycling centre, which led to the site being temporarily closed while firefighters dealt with the incident.
Bucks Fire and Rescue Service reported that the fire at the Newport Pagnell recycling centre involved four large waste containers.
Firefighters remained at the scene for around five hours, with the incident resulting in multiple calls to the Thames Valley Fire Control Service due to what was described as “a large plume of smoke currently being generated by the fire involving household waste, furniture and scrap metal.”
Residents and businesses in the surrounding areas were advised to keep doors and windows closed, while motorists were warned of an impact on visibility on nearby roads.
Fire crews attended from Olney, Newport Pagnell, Northampton, Aylesbury and Bedfordshire, with firefighters using one hose reel jet, two main jets, two sets of breathing apparatus and an onsite mechanical vehicle.
