The centre will be in Saxon Court, the council's old housing offices, and roads around it will be closed while it is operating.

Currently people aged over 80 in MK are receiving jabs at MK Hospital and at Water Eaton health centre in Bletchley. It is thought the new centre will open up the vaccination scheme to the wider public, across all age groups.

Visitors to the new centre will be by appointment only.

MK Council has placed road closure notices in preparation and they are dated from January 8 for a period of 18 months.

Their notice reads: "The council is satisfied that by reason of the likelihood of danger to the public during the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) that the following temporary measures be introduced to help provide a safe and controlled area outside the temporary vaccination facility in Central Milton Keynes (CMK) during the pandemic."

Temporary restrictions will include the closure of Saxon Gate (east side) and Avebury Boulevard (south side) between Saxon Gate and the main entrance to Saxon Court. Parts of South Row will also be closed.
