Milton Keynes City Council issued most fines in the country related to illegal vape products, data shows
Milton Keynes City Council issued the most fines in the country in relation to illegal vape products last year.
Research from Vape Superstore, based on Freedom of Information data from councils, reveals the authority issued 23 fines during 2025.
The fines totalled £2,400, which put Milton Keynes City Council in joint tenth for the monetary value of fines issued last year, alongside Derbyshire County Council.
This ranking is topped by Luton Borough Council which issued fines totalling £46,640, through the seizure of more than 4,000 illegal vapes, e-liquids and e-cigarettes.

Meanwhile, Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council was named as the top council for illegal vape seizures with 291,707 illegal vapes, e-liquids and e-cigarettes seized in 2025.
Buckinghamshire Council sits in joint ninth in the standings, seizing 19,831 illegal vapes, e-liquids and e-cigarettes last year.
Reacting to the findings, Vape Superstore’s lead content writer David Phillips said: “The volume of illegal vapes being seized across the UK is alarming.
“Many of these products bypass UK safety regulations and may contain excessive nicotine levels or untested ingredients.
“It’s encouraging to see councils taking enforcement seriously through seizures, investigations and fines to help prevent illegal products from reaching consumers and responsible retailers.”
Recent data published by national vape shop Vape and Go ranked Milton Keynes as the eighth most vape-obsessed city in the country.
The standings were compiled based on their sales data and information from Google searches, with the data revealing vape sales had grown by 126 per cent in Milton Keynes since 2024.
