Milton Keynes College helps grieving children this Christmas

The college has created a Christmas Quiz to help raise money for Harry’s Rainbow, a charity that supports children and young people who have been bereaved of a parent or sibling.

The funds from the quiz will be used to create distanced activity support packs, which are designed to support bereaved children by undertaking a craft activity that focuses on feelings, emotions and wellbeing in their own homes.

Events and fundraising manager for Harry’s Rainbow Emma Gilead said: “This year has been very challenging for all of us. Harry’s Rainbow have adapted our services so that we can continue supporting the bereaved children in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area.

“One of our main support areas is usually Rainbow Groups, where the children can attend and take part in activities to help self-esteem and self-confidence. Due to COVID-19, we have been unable to provide these, so each month we’ve been sending out distant activity support packs to the 80 or so children we work with, which includes crafts that they can do at home.”

Rebecca Myrie from MK College said: “The isolation we’ve all felt because of the pandemic restrictions must be particularly hard for bereaved children at this time. We’re proud to support Harry’s Rainbow with their distant activity support packs as we appreciate what they mean to the children who receive them.”
