The dusty Mars Delight was found by worker Eli Toy in a Co-op store in Dundee, nestling between a Curly Wurly and a jar of lemon curd.

The once-popular sweet, a lighter, crispier version of the traditional Mars bar, arrived on the scene in 2004 but disappeared a few years later - leaving sweet-toothed fans mourning its absence.

Eli's find could have been one of the last bars to be manufactured.

He told the Scottish Sun newspaper: “I decided to sell it as I’ve seen people on the internet pay money to purchase discontinued sweets."

He put it on eBay and it got snapped up for a 'Buy It Now' price of £50.

“It has been sold to someone in Milton Keynes. It’s crazy to think someone wants to buy an 11-year-old chocolate bar," he said. “Having that £50 in my pocket is a delight."

The mystery MK buyer is not the only person fascinated with Mars Delight bars though. One fan even started a petition on change.org asking for them to be produced again.

The petition reads: "Many of us are aware of the gut wrenching feeling of the Mars Delight not being on our shelves anymore. A decision that rocked the country, that has made day to day life almost impossible to complete and the cause of all heartache among a generation. Taken away from us in an instant, many of us not even getting to enjoy our last one to the fullest... Let's do this for our fallen soldiers, The White Malteser and the Cornetto Soft."

Other discontinued sweets still remembered with nostaliga include Cadbury Dream, which was white chocolate, Cadbury's Mint Crisp, Flake Snow ( a white chocolate flake), Cadbury’s Aztec and Nestle Toffo.
