Milton Keynes Mayor welcomes primary schools for visit to council chamber

Milton Keynes Mayor James Lancaster and deputy Mayor Paul Trendall welcomed primary schools from across the Preston Hedges Trust on a visit to the council chamber.

Pupils from Holne Chase Primary School in Milton Keynes and three primary schools in Northampton - Pineham Barns, Preston Hedges and Parklands, were invited to look around the Milton Keynes City Council chamber, and given the opportunity to quiz the Mayor and deputy Mayor.

Deputy Mayor Trendall said that school visits were one of his favourite engagements in the role.

"The question and answer session is the highlight of the event as you have no idea what is going to be asked,” Cllr Trendall wrote in a post on the Mayor of MK’s Facebook page.

“This time questions about ‘how do you get elected’, and ‘what do you do’, were trumped by the completely unexpected ‘what’s your favourite biscuit?!’”

During the visit, pupils also took part in a challenge, pitching why they should be Prime Minister for the day.
