Busy Bees at Milton Keynes on Saxon Street, off Chadwick Drive, is encouraging children to take time out of their day to feel calmer, improve flexibility, and develop locomotor skills by taking part in its new initiative, ‘Yoga with Buzz’.

From Ten Green Bottles to Rock-a-bye Baby yoga, the programme includes a host of child-friendly positions, including mountain, upward facing dog and tree pose, with the aim of encouraging children to take care of their wellbeing from a young age.

Associated with stillness and silence, yoga may seem a world away from the excitement of a nursery, but when adapted for children, it can be hugely beneficial in helping to manage their emotions, say Busy Bees.

The practice is also a tool for story-telling, imaginative play and exploration, which can be used to promote calmness and offer an alternative way for children to get up and active.

Claire Redsull, Centre Director at Busy Bees on Saxon Street, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching Yoga with Buzz.

“Here at Busy Bees, we’re focused on providing opportunities that give children the best start in life, and learning techniques to promote wellbeing and self-health from a young age is a brilliant way to do just that.

“Yoga has many benefits for people of all ages, and for children, it is a fantastic way to boost emotional wellbeing, support the development of body management skills and improve spacial awareness. Our new programme is designed to include playful, imaginative poses to help children to remain in the moment, as well as teach easy breathing activities as a technique for children to use to keep calm in when needed

“The sessions have proven to be a big hit with the children and yoga has already become a more regular part of our nursery routine.”

‘Yoga with Buzz’ is part of Busy Bees’ digital learning programme, ‘UP’, which stands for Unleashing Potential. The specially designed app brings together activities, songs, games and advice in one place for practitioners to use with children, inspiring a variety of enriching learning opportunities.

Parents are also able to enjoy these activities and resources, including ‘Yoga with Buzz’ with their children at home using the app, which is available on the App Store and Google Play.
