Russell Street School in Stony Stratford decided that as the children couldn't get to the shops during lockdown, they would bring the shops to the children.

The school worked with local carpenter and sculptor Ian Freemantle, who designed and built the fantastic structure.

It replicates the buildings in Stony Stratford High Street in miniature, right down to Odell's hardware store, a florist and a café. The businesses donated products to make the shops realistic.

A school spokesman said: "Russell Street School has very close community links and usually the children visit all of the shops and other businesses regularly to learn about them and the community in which they live. As we have been unable to do this in recent times, we have brought the High Street to the children!"

She added: "Many thanks to our local businesses, Odell's, Willis’ Flowers and The Bean in Stony coffee shop, who have kindly donated resources to bring our High Street to life. We are so excited for the return of our children to experience this fantastic new project."
