M&S encourage customers to book a slot to visit stores in Milton Keynes

The service is designed to keep queues to a minimum and maintain a safe shopping environment,

Booking secures entry for one person per household each day

An M&S spokesperson said the service has already proved popular with customers.

He said: "First trialled in September, before being rolled out to all stores as part of our commitment to help make shopping quicker, easier and safer for everyone, the service has been a huge hit with customers."

The system has already facilitated over half a million bookings throughout the UK and will be extended until the beginning of February at least.
