New cashless pay on exit parking system aims to 'improve guest experience' at Xscape in Milton Keynes

A new pay on exit parking system has been introduced at the Xscape building in Milton Keynes, with a spokesperson saying it is designed to ‘improve the guest experience.’

The system, which came into force on March 9, only applies to the Xscape car park, managed by APCOA, which is located closest to the building and marked by blue-line bays.

The new cashless system, which uses Automatic Number Plate recognition technology, removes the need for physical tickets and pay and display machines.

Xscape claims the new system will make parking ‘quicker and easier’ for visitors, who will receive a 30-minute grace period, meaning short visits will remain free.

The number plates of vehicles will be recorded automatically on entering the car park, with charges calculated based on the length of visit, and customers paying before leaving the site.

Parking charges apply seven days a week between 7am and 6pm, with prices starting at £2 for up to two hours, and rising to £3.50 for up to five hours. Blue badge holders will follow the same tariff structure.

A spokesperson for Xscape Milton Keynes said: "The previous system had reached the end of its lifespan, so we have introduced a new cashless ‘pay on exit’ parking system at Xscape Milton Keynes to improve the guest experience.

"This is the first of several parking improvements at Xscape Milton Keynes, as we work to make parking easier, more accessible and more convenient for visitors as they shop, dine and enjoy the range of leisure facilities here at Xscape."
