New coalition aiming to bring Milton Keynes together to launch at online meeting
A new coalition which aims to bring Milton Keynes together is set to launch with an online meeting on Tuesday January 27.
The Milton Keynes Together Alliance is aiming to bring individuals and organisations together in support of unity, hope and community solidarity.

The Milton Keynes Together Alliance is part of the national Together Alliance movement, which consists of more than 80 organisations and hundreds of individuals.
According to a statement on the Together Alliance website, the alliance aims to ‘reject narratives of division and racism, build solidarity across communities and unite against the far right.’
The Milton Keynes Together Alliance launches on January 27 at 7pm via the Zoom platform, and the meeting is open to anyone living or working in the city who wishes to play a positive role in building a united community.
During the meeting, the alliance will outline its plans for local activity in the coming months, which is set to include community events, street stalls and engagement.
This leads up to the national Together Alliance March for Love, Hope and Unity, scheduled to be held in London on Saturday March 28.
Speaking in a personal capacity, political officer and local representative for the Communication Workers Union Gary Lloyd said: “As a trade union officer, I am committed to my union’s belief that trade unions should not only be concerned with improving the world of work, but also with reducing inequality in wider society and empowering our communities.
“That is why I support the Together Alliance and its campaign for working together for hope, not despair, for unity, not racism. “We can show that strength lies in solidarity, and that attempts to scapegoat migrants, Muslims and refugees are simply wrong.
“It is not these people who hollowed out and underfunded our National Health Service and public services for decades, nor are they responsible for the widening inequality in our society. “I am proud to support the aims of the Together Alliance, and I will be marching with thousands of like-minded people in London on 28 March.”
