New £30,000 funding for Milton Keynes events to boost high streets

The City Council is encouraging community groups, charities, business organisations and parish or town councils to put on public events to boost activity on the local high streets.

Grants of up to £5,000 each are available for events and activities next year that attract visitors, increase footfall and support local businesses.

A total of £30,000 is on offer to organisers in Bletchley, Newport Pagnell, Stony Stratford, Olney, Woburn Sands and Wolverton.

From food festivals and artisan markets to cultural celebrations, family fun days and seasonal events, the city council is looking for creative ideas that showcase the unique character of each high street and encourage more people to spend time there.

Applications that bring together local businesses, community groups and other partners are particularly encouraged. Successful events could also become part of the celebrations marking Milton Keynes' 60th anniversary in 2027.

Leader of Milton Keynes City Council, Cllr Jane Carr said: "Our high streets are a vital part of Milton Keynes, supporting local businesses and bringing communities together.

“This funding will help local organisations create events that give people more reasons to visit, spend time in our centres and celebrate everything that makes each high street unique."
