NHS worker to cut off her amazing hip-length hair to raise cash for Milton Keynes maternity unit

A young midwife care assistant is to cut off her crowning glory that is so long she can sit on it.

Georgina Martinez works in the maternity unit at Milton Keynes hospital and is determined to raise hundreds of pounds to help the department.

She has spent years growing her hair, which she has to wear up in a bun for work.

"For those of you who know me well will know how much I love my long hair," she said. "It’s now at the length where I can sit on it so it will be very emotional parting with so much of it."

Georgina plans to donate the lengths of hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children and young people with hair loss due to cancer of other illnesses.

She set up a fundraising page and surpassed her £500 target within days. You can donate here The hair chop is planned for June 29 and Georgina will be posting before and after photos and videos on social media for all to see.
