Northampton singer-songwriter Andy Crofts returns with new solo single Blue
"There’s no getting rid of me yet!”
Northampton singer-songwriter Andy Crofts is back, and releases a cracking new single called Blue this Friday (April 17).

Frontman of town band The Moons and former bass and keyboard player for Paul Weller, Crofts has been off the musical radar for a little while.
His most recent release with The Moons was the excellent Pocket Melodies album, which was the band's fourth LP and was released in 2021, while he stepped away from playing and recording with Weller a year later to deal with family commitments.

Crofts had been part of Weller's band on record and on the road for more than 12 years, playing on seven of the Modfather's studio albums, and gigging with him around the world.
Now based on the south coast in Worthing, Crofts has long held the ambition of releasing a solo record.
In 2023 he released a record from a solo gig called 'Live At The 100 Club', but he believes now is the right time to get that fully fledged studio LP out into the world.
The new single Blue will be followed by an album, and Crofts said: "I feel like I’ve been out of the loop for some time as life heavily got in the way.

"But it feels good to be back with new material and purpose. There’s no getting rid of me yet!”
Blue is a catchy slice of 60s-tinged melodic pop, with a real earworm of a chorus.
The accompanying press release explains: "Blue balances classic songcraft with a vivid, modern sonic palette that feels both timeless and immediate... with its warm arrangement, memorable hook, and cinematic sense of movement, Blue encapsulates the spirit of an artist reconnecting with instinct, melody, and purpose."
Explaining how the new song came about, Crofts said: "I’d been sitting with this melody for a long time.

"The words grew out of my own struggles, but the music carries an uplifting energy that turns it into something hopeful."
And he added: "Blue is my official debut single for my new solo chapter.
"It comes from an album I’m yet to announce, but I’m excited.
"I’m much older now and I feel I can express myself as a solo artist

“The single was mastered at Plastic Tree Studios in Northampton, by my good old friend Dave Crawford, and he's great!”
Blue is backed with a B side called My Paradise, and both are released on all digital platforms on April 17.
Released on Crofts' own Colorama Records, a limited edition blue vinyl 7" physical release will follow in a few weeks, and that can be pre-ordered now at cargorecordsdirect.co.uk
