People quarantined for Coronavirus in Milton Keynes become Facebook friends with group of residents

The group posts daily photos, questions and facts about MK to amuse the guests, who were flown from Wuhan to stay in isolation for two weeks at Kents Hill Park hotel and conference centre.

They have also organised a drop off point for donations of snacks, toiletries and books, along with small games and colouring books for the children.

The guests, who number more than 00, are now more than halfway through their enforced stay. This week they have thanked the people of Milton Keynes for reaching out.

One said: "I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support and kindness which has made our stay here this last week a lot easier."

Another guest posted: "I just wanted to say thank you for your kindness and well wishes. It has most certainly been a difficult time giving up our homes and future plans but kind gestures such as these make it easier."

The rule for the Facebook group is 'be kind and courteous' and the page introduction states: "We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required."

The Kents Hill guests were all swabbed for Coronavrius as soon as they arrived at the hotel on Sunday February 9. All the first tests were negative but repeat swabs are carried out every few days.

Throughout the rest of the UK, as of today,4,916 people have been tested for the virus. Some 4,907 of these have been were confirmed negative and nine positive.
