The special Apple Day was held at the the city’s Community Orchard in the Ouzel Valley Park at Woughton-on-the Green, where several varieties of the fruit are grown.

People could crunch their way through a range of English apple varieties, join in with hand-pressing apples to make juice, make crafts and play games with apple themes.

There was a guided walk with the Mid-Shires Orchard Group and a biodiversity expert from The Parks Trust, foraging with the Trust’s Outdoor Learning team and even a demonstration of bird ringing.

Visitors could meet a beekeeper and buy local honey and enjoy a range of locally made treats.

Apple varieties growing in the community orchard include Cox’s Orange Pippin, Arthur Turner, Laxton’s Superb and Laxton’s Fortune.
