The money will be spent on improving Bletchley's Lakes Estate, mainly the Serpentine Court area.

Proposals include building almost 600 new homes, new shops and wider estate improvements.

In November 2018, 93 per cent of residents who took part in a ballot voted to fully redevelop Serpentine Court.. Since the vote, MK Council has worked alongside the community to prepare proposals that will please everyone.

The application asks for permission for Serpentine Court to be demolished and 593 new affordable homes will be built in its place. Just over half of these will be council homes.

It also seeks consent for a new local centre with shops to be built and Warren Park to be enhanced. Also planned are enhancements on streets across the estate as well as improved parking

MK Council pledges to continue working with the community to appoint a contractor to deliver the project.

If the planning application is successful, work is expected to start later this year and be fully completed by 2024.

Cabinet Member for housing and regeneration,Councillor Nigel Long said: “I want to pay tribute to the local community and council colleagues who have been instrumental in getting us to this stage. It’s only right that local people from Serpentine Court and the wider Lakes Estate have led on these plans to shape the future of their community"

He added: “While this is an important milestone, I look forward to continuing our work with the community to deliver the project which will make a lasting difference to people’s quality of life.”

MK Council is currently consulting on its new regeneration strategy. In December last year, the Fullers Slade community voted for new homes, refurbishment and improvements on the estate.
