Rotary Club members plant hundreds of crocuses to mark World Polio Day in Milton Keynes

The purple crocus flower is the emblem of World Polio Day, which was on Saturday

Members of the Rotary Club of Woburn Sands and District Rotary Club gathered on Mowbury Green to plant hundreds of the bulbs and lay a plaque placed on the green to commemorate the event.

Rotary clubs throughout the world have been involved fundraising to eradicate Polio and now there are only two countries left suffering this crippling virus.

The Mayor of Woburn Sands Michael Geddes met with our club president Roger Cladd on the green to add moral support.

A Rotary spokesman said: "We would welcome anyone who may wish to join us to assist in our fundraising so we can help many more good causes."
