Secondary school in Milton Keynes closes for deep clean as coronavirus 'precaution'

A school that has a member of staff in isolation against coronavirus has informed parents it will be closing tomorrow for a deep clean.

The 1,600-pupil Stantonbury International School stresses there are no confirmed cases of Covis-19 in the school community but they have a staff member and family in self-isolation.

They also have a student being treated for "related unwellness", heads Matthew Gilbert and Alison Ramsey stated in a letter sent to parents today.

The letter adds: "Having considered all the available information very carefully, we have taken the decision to close the school to students on Friday March 13...This is a purely precautionary measure and this decision with (sic) be reviewed daily.

"Staff teams will plan work for all year groups to be managed via an online tool, and pupils can access learning resources that will be posted on the school website.

The letter concludes: "Our priority, as always, is the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and the wider school community."
