Slight rise in Covid cases in Milton Keynes over the weekend

The number of new Covid cases rose slightly in MK over the weekend but figures still remain significantly lower than earlier this month.

On Saturday 168 people testing positive, while on Sunday there were 200, bringing the city's total to 16,733 since the start of the pandemic.

The rise could be due to a large new walk-through testing site that opened last week in Wolverton's Agora car park.

Sadly there were four Covid-linked deaths in MK over the weekend, bringing the city's since the beginning of the pandemic to 362 people who have died within 28 days of a positive test.

Currently 170 Covid patients are in MK hospital, with seven of them on ventilators.

Nationally there were 30,004 new cases yesterday. Deaths were down to 610. Throughout the UK, 6,353,321 people have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, while 469,660 people have also had the second dose.
