The owner's daughter posted: "Thank you for everyone’s concern regarding my mums little dog who was attacked by a Rottweiler on Greenleys this morning. I’m absolutely devastated to say he has passed away."

She added: "Thank you to Jo and Mark who stopped to help, Nicky for rushing them to the vets, and MK Vet group for trying to save him. Mum is heartbroken."

Residents say police have today been out hunting for the dog, which is thought to be one of a pack of three running loose around the area. It is not yet know whether they have been found.

The second Jack Russell, attacked at a different time and location, has spent the day at the vets and his wounds have been stitched. He is expected to survive.
