‘This decision has not been an easy one’: Milton Keynes city centre restaurant to close at the end of the month
A restaurant based in Milton Keynes city centre has admitted it ‘has not been easy’ after announcing it will close its doors at the end of January.
Middletons Milton Keynes, based on Midsummer Boulevard, posted on social media earlier today to share the news of its shock closure, which it said had been made with ‘truly heavy hearts.’

Managing director of Middletons Stephen Hutton said: “The reasons are numerous, and include increases to national insurance, the minimum wage and business rates.
“Hotels and offices in Milton Keynes are half-empty now, and the landlord would not negotiate on rental terms.”
The restaurant, which opened in 2014, posted: “Our Milton Keynes restaurant has been so much more than just a place to dine.
“It has been a place for celebrations, family gatherings, first dates, milestones and memories - and we have been incredibly lucky to share those moments with so many of you over the years.
“We are deeply grateful to our wonderful guests, our dedicated team members past and present, and the local community for the support, loyalty and kindness shown to us throughout our journey.
“This decision has not been an easy one, and Middletons Milton Keynes will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
“Before we say goodbye, we’d love to welcome you one last time. Thank you for being part of our story.”
The chain opened its first restaurant in the town of Middleton in Norfolk in July 2011.
None of its other sites at Norwich, King’s Lynn, Leicester, Colchester, Peterborough and Chelmsford are affected.
