The government has announced that from December 23 to December 27, three households will be able to form “Christmas bubbles” so they can spend time together in one another’s homes.

They will also be able to meet in places of worship or outdoor spaces.

People will also be able to travel between tiers and across the whole of the UK without restriction within the five-day period to meet with their bubbles.

Anybody travelling to and from Northern Ireland will be permitted to travel an additional day either side.

But the festive bubbles will have to be fixed over the five day period, which means people will not be able to mix with two households o Christmas Eve and two different households on Christmas Day, for example.

Households entering into one Christmas bubble cannot then be included in others.
