Molly Davenport, who is 15, wanted to thank the hospice for the care they gave to her grandad Robin Salt before he passed away in January.

She and her best friend, 13-year-old Lily Harvey, organised a fundraising page and vowed to run 50 socially distanced miles apiece during the month of July.

Molly said: "As grandad got to his last few weeks of life, Willen Hospice were there for him and my family, giving us lots of support. They helped to provide medical intervention too so that he was not in any pain at all. They also used to invite him to groups so he could spend time with people with similar conditions to him. He used to love going to them.

"Willen Hospice do this every single day and have helped hundreds of patients and their families through the hardest time of their lives... I have always wanted to show my thanks to them and raise some money."

Molly, who is taking her dog Nerys on the runs, added: "This is an exciting new challenge for us but one we are ready to tackle. We are running 50 miles each, that adds up to a huge 100 miles."

Due to Covid-19, Willen Hospice has seen a significant drop in donations.

"Most of their money comes from donations and we would hate to see them struggle for money. We really hope you can support us by donating, even just a little bit, to this amazing charity," said Molly.

The girls set themselves a £1,000 target and already they have exceeded that, with £1,170 in donations so far.
