More than 100 people have signed up to take part in Light Up Lavendon by turning a window in their homes into a festive display to form a 'real life' Advent Calendar.

They will be given one specific day, from 1 Dec to 24 Dec, to light up their display and send in a photo or video for the competition, which boasts a first prize of £150 from Richard Bray of James Kendall estate agents.

The uplifting competition has been organised by Lavendon resident Shareen Thompson.

"Winter is here and with the whole lockdown issue I wanted to try and brighten things up," she said.

"There is a very strong community spirit in Lavendon, among both long-term residents and newcomers alike, and the response has been overwhelming."
