Watch: Touching video shows homeless man having his pride restored on the streets of Milton Keynes

A touching video shows how a caring gesture helped a homeless man feel a pride in himself once again.

Steve is a regular on the pavements at Central Milton Keynes, where he finds warm spots such as outside the Xscape building, to spend the nights.

A self-confessed alcoholic, his life spiralled downhill when lost his home after splitting with his partner of 38 years.

Young barber Christian Ashborn this week spotted Steve in one of his regular spots and offered him a free haircut.

“Giving the homeless a haircut in the streets has been something I wanted to do for over two years now, I’m glad to start this movement in order to help people,” he said.

The result was a heart-warming scene, filmed on video with Steve’s consent, showing the homeless man’s face light up as his new groomed look emerges.

The pair chat away, with Steve revealing how much better he feels with neatly-cut hair and telling how he tries to help others wherever he can.

"I may not have much but I share what I have,” he told Christian.

Christian said afterwards: “Please, if you end up going this way, say hello to Steve. It doesn’t cost much to help him. It goes a long way for someone!”
