Whole range of fun activities for the whole family re-open at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes

Watersports, sailing, pedalos, and the Treetop Extreme high ropes are all set to re-open at Willen Lake on Saturday July 4.

The Parks Trust has already successfully restarted Wakeboarding and open water swimming, and are now able to safely resume some of the other popular activities at the lake.

These include Discover sessions, which are instructor-led courses created to introduce participants to specific watersports. This summer there are course teaching people how to stand-up paddle board, wakeboard, windsurf, kayak, sail or even learn the skill of archery.

Sailing courses will resume, with the two day level 1 course starting in July for beginners aged 16 plus. There will be a follow up level two course in September,

In mid-July the weekly Junior Sailing Club will restart for children aged between eight and 14. The club will run on Saturday mornings from 9am to 11am,

Also returning is Willen Lake's Adult Paddle Club, running every Wednesday evening from 6pm to 8pm. for people interested in trying different type of paddle sports under the guidance of our qualified instructors.

From the start of July, Pedalos will also be available for hire at Willen Lake. Subject to weather conditions, the hire centre will be open every day from 11am to 6pm. Pedalos cannot be booked online.

Finally, the popular Treetop Extreme will re-open from July 4. It is the county’s only urban high ropes course and there are three course to choose from - Explorer, Adventure and Extreme.

"We plan to reopen the courses with a reduced number of participants able to complete the course at one time as well as decreasing the amount of sessions we run per day. Our Treetop Extreme courses will need to be booked in advance online at www.willenlake.org.uk/treetop and usual height

restrictions apply," said a spokesman,

He added: "We have been working hard behind the scenes with the relevant national governing bodies to adapt our operations, ensuring we have a safe and fun experience for our visitors. We’ve reduced capacities to support social distancing. There will be an enhanced cleaning regime in place for equipment, and multiple points for our customers to access hand wash or hand sanitisation stations."

All courses will need to be booked in advance online. People taking part in watersport courses will be given their own equipment upon arrival that has been sanitized, and there will be no sharing of crafts or equipment. Sessions will be a maximum of six people, including the instructor, and social distancing will be maintained.
