The man is a type 1 diabetic and had a severe hypo attack in the car park of Kingston shopping centre yesterday (Wednesday).

His wife posted on social media today: "He would have come across as disoriented, slurred words and not with it, possibly drunk to some. In reality he is a type 1 diabetic and was having a very severe hypo and just needed sugar.

"He asked a few strangers for help, all of which walked by and ignored him," she added.

The woman continued: "I know it’s tough times at the moment for everyone but please always be kind and helpful where you can. You never know how much someone may need your help."

Luckily Tesco worker came to the man's rescue.

"He’s okay now thanks to the brilliant Tesco staff," said his wife.

The NHS advises that someone suffering a hypo attack should be given something sugary to eat or drink. Experts say three dextrose or glucose sweets, or five 5 small sweets, like jelly babies, or one glass of of non-diet sugary drink (a mini can of cola is ideal) should be administered as soon as possible.
